The Endless Missing
Wrote down before Leif Stringham’s long journey
Without saying good-bye
You’ve gone suddenly
sudden that everyone can’t believe it
We all were “deceived” by you
the honest man
You took away Moon’s dream and
the weddings invitation cards
But left behind
A broken heart and
a lot of sob and sigh
Well
We know you also took away
thousands of helplessness and
thousands of unwillingness
Followed the footmark of your ancestors
in those days
you majored on oriental cultural and language
Then stepped on this land
No matter what you faced
civilization or savage
As always
You kept love and smile
Students were your friends
Friends were your playmates
We should say
You acted silently
as a envoy of folk culture and
a footboard of language exchange
In that year
It was who met whom by chance
The two drifting hearts
from then on
got together and helped each other
The two kinds of symbol of culture
link up gradually
Almost seven years
Walked through wind and rain
You tasted the sweets and bitters of life
Together
Almost seven years
Every morning and evening
You structure a ideal boat
Together
It all
Has just begun actually
It all
Stopped at early age unexpectedly
Ah tears
Even if became the waterfall of Salem
How can it dilute the keenly felt pain
Ah time
Even if became the steep of the Great Wall
How can it ward off the endless missing
True
Nietzsche said
Life maybe long or short but
Instant can be eternal
So long as the heart is full of love
Without saying good-bye
You’ve gone
And just be going to fly over the ocean
Fly back the homeland
Fly to the woodland where you had been with playmates
No
Someone said
You’ve never gone
But just went
Another room
Maybe
The journey of the life
Just stated in Xinjing
“neither live nor extinguish
Neither increase nor decrease”
